Exercise section Targeted exercises not only help prevent and treat chronic bronchitis, but also promote blood circulation, improve metabolism and microcirculation, and enhance lung function. Here are several simple and effective methods: 1. Breathing exercises: (1) Inhale, slowly extend arms upward, forming an obtuse angle with the trunk. (2) Exhale, lower arms. Inhale through nose, exhale through mouth, and purse lips during exhalation to increase resistance. Deep inhalation, slow exhalation. 2. Chest expansion exercise: Raise arms, elbows bent halfway, fists clenched, palms down. Expand chest, push arms backward with force. 3. Abdominal breathing: Stand upright (also applicable sitting or lying down). Place one hand on the chest, one on the abdomen. Practice abdominal breathing: inhale deeply, expand the abdomen, keep chest still; exhale, contract the abdomen, expel as much air as possible. Breathe rhythmically, with an inhalation-to-exhalation ratio of 1:2 or 1:3. Exercise twice daily, 10–20 minutes per session. 4. Acupressure: (1) Use the large fleshy part of the thumb to rub from the Yintang point, moving downward along both sides of the nose to the Yingxiang point beside the nostrils. Apply moderate pressure; the goal is to feel warmth and tears in the nasal area, and improved nasal airflow. (2) Press firmly with index fingers on both Yingxiang points (located beside the nostrils), rotating left and right for 15–20 times. The point should feel firm and sore. Ensure accurate placement. 5. Moxibustion: Use a lit moxa stick to gently burn a set of acupoints that strengthen the body, regulate the lungs, and boost immunity: First group: LU 13 (Fei Shu, located 1.5 cun lateral to the third thoracic vertebra), CV 6 (Qi Hai, located 1.5 cun below the navel), ST 36 (Zu San Li, located 3 cun below the outer knee, about one finger width lateral to the tibia). Second group: GV 14 (Da Zhu, located at the seventh cervical vertebra), BL 17 (Ge Shu, located 1.5 cun lateral to the seventh thoracic vertebra), CV 4 (Guan Yuan, located 3 cun below the navel). Alternate between the two groups, each session lasting 20–30 minutes. A course consists of 30 sessions, followed by a 3–5 day break before starting the next course.
