1. When suffering from cold-related headache, place a clean towel in a basin, soak it with hot water, squeeze slightly, flatten it, and press over the patient’s eyes, nose, or neck area (e.g., Fengchi acupoint) to alleviate symptoms. 2. 25 ml of red wine, put in a pot and boil to evaporate alcohol, then beat in one egg, stir well, add one spoon of sugar. Consume by diluting with hot water, then cover up and rest. Next day, symptoms like nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat will significantly improve or disappear; some people feel relief after just one dose. 3. One pear, 25 grams ginger, slice both thinly, add one bowl of water, decoct and drink in one go. Same day effect. Also, use 100 grams scallions, 3 slices ginger, decoct or steep in boiling water. Alternatively, use 20 grams scallions, 5 slices ginger, one spoon sugar, a small amount of tea, one bowl of water, decoct and drink. 4. 20 peanut shells, 3 stalks of green onion (with roots), wash thoroughly, place in pot, add sufficient cold water, bring to boil, simmer for 15 minutes on low heat, filter out the liquid, drink while hot, immediately dress warmly and cover up to induce mild sweating. If vomiting or nausea occurs, add 4 slices of ginger and decoct together. If there is sore throat or cough, add several slices of pear during decoction. 5. Apply musk pain-relieving plaster or musk wind-dispelling plaster (or use damp-heat pain-relieving plaster) externally for various types of cold. Method: Cut two 5×5 cm musk plasters, sprinkle a small amount of medicine powder from quick-acting cold capsules evenly onto them, place on both feet’s Yongquan points, change daily, massage for 2–3 minutes. Most common colds improve or cure within 1–3 days. 6. Some people have a cold but refuse medication—use the alcohol bath method. Wipe areas like below the ears, sides of the neck, armpits, inner arms, wrists, inner thighs, inner knees, sides of ankles, and soles of feet with gauze soaked in high-proof alcohol, rubbing back and forth 30–40 times, then cover up and sleep. This method is especially suitable for pregnant women with cold who cannot take medicine.
