Yueju Baohe Wan 【Source】Gu Jin Yi Jian, Vol. 4. 【Composition】Cang Zhu (soaked in rice wash for three days, stir-fried) 30g, Fu Xiong (washed with wine) 30g, Shen Qu (stir-fried) 30g, Xiang Fu (soaked in child’s urine, stir-fried) 30g, Zhi Zi (stir-fried) 15g, Chen Pi 30g, Ban Xia (prepared) 30g, Bai Fu Ling 30g, Lian Qiao 15g, Lai Fu Zi (stir-fried) 15g, Zhi Shi (stir-fried with bran) 30g, Bai Zhu 90g, Huang Lian (stir-fried with wine) 30g, Shan Zha (pit removed) 60g, Mu Xiang 15g, Dang Gui (washed with wine) 30g 【Usage】Grind herbs into powder, mix with ginger juice and steam with steamed cake, make pills like tangerine seeds. Take 50 pills each time, swallow with light ginger tea or wine. 【Function】Strengthens spleen, resolves stagnation, moves Qi, aids digestion, clears heat, transforms phlegm. 【Indication】Stagnation due to Qi, blood, phlegm, fire, dampness, food; chest and epigastric fullness, abdominal distension and pain, acid regurgitation, vomiting, poor digestion, diarrhea. 【Discussion】This formula is derived from modifications of Yueju Wan and Baohe Wan. Xiang Fu and Mu Xiang move Qi and resolve stagnation, treating Qi stagnation; Dang Gui and Chuan Xiong activate blood and resolve stasis, treating blood stagnation; Zhi Zi, Lian Qiao, and Huang Lian clear heat and reduce fire, treating fire stagnation; Cang Zhu, Bai Zhu, Zhi Shi, Ban Xia, Chen Pi, and Bai Fu Ling regulate Qi, transform phlegm, dry dampness, and strengthen the spleen, treating phlegm and dampness stagnation; Shen Qu, Shan Zha, and Lai Fu Zi aid digestion and eliminate stagnation, treating food stagnation. Combined, these herbs resolve all types of stagnation—Qi, blood, phlegm, fire, dampness, and food. |
