Ang Akupuntura para sa Sciatica

Sciatica refers to pain along the course of the sciatic nerve and its distribution area. It is divided into primary and secondary types. The main clinical symptoms are pain in the buttocks, posterior thigh, lateral posterior calf, and outer side of the foot. Commonly seen in three syndromes.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Primary Points: Paraspinal points from L2 to L5, Ah-Shi points, Huantiao (GB30)
1. Wind-Cold-Damp Bi Syndrome
【Diagnostic Criteria】Cold and aching pain in the waist and legs, migrating up and down, limited flexion and extension, worsened by damp and cold weather, or accompanied by swelling in the lower limbs; thin white or greasy white coating, floating tight or deep pulse.
【Prescription】Zhibian (BL57), Yanglingquan (GB34), Mingmen (GV4)
2. Blood Stasis Obstruction
【Diagnostic Criteria】History of internal bruising in the lower back, sharp stabbing pain in the waist and legs, painful upon pressure, pain radiates when pressed, worse at night, unable to bend or turn; purple dark tongue or with ecchymosis, stagnant and sluggish pulse.
【Prescription】Yanglingquan (GB34), Geshu (BL17), Xuehai (SP10), Weizhong (BL40)
3. Deficient Vital Qi
【Diagnostic Criteria】Dull pain in the waist and legs, recurring episodes, worsened by exertion, weak lower limbs, sensitivity to wind and cold, prefers rubbing and pressing, fatigue, pale complexion; pale tongue with little coating, deep fine pulse.
【Prescription】Yanglingquan (GB34), Weizhong (BL40), Zusanli (ST36), Sanyinjiao (SP6)
Other Therapies:
Auricular Acupressure: Sciatic nerve, buttock, lumbar-sacral vertebrae, kidney, tender point
Skin Needling: Percuss the lumbar-sacral region and bleed at tender points, followed by cupping.
