Headache, dizziness wine

延年薯蓣酒
[Drug composition] Dioscorea, Atractylodes, Schisandra (crushed), Salvia each eight taels, Saposhnikovia ten taels, Cornus (crushed) two sheng, Ginseng two taels, Fresh ginger (powdered) six taels
[Function and indication] Dizziness, inability to eat, tonify qi and strength.
[Usage and dosage] Warmly drink seven he each time, twice daily, gradually increase dosage.
[Preparation method] Cut eight herbs finely, place in silk bag. Soak in two and a half dou of wine for five days.
[Notes] Avoid peach, plum, bird meat.

Comment: This formula applies to digestive disorders and dizziness caused by spleen-stomach deficiency and impaired transportation due to cold. Since the formula contains ginseng, dioscorea, and atractylodes—all tonifying herbs—it is named "Yan Nian Shu Yu Jiu."
黄牛脑子酒
[Drug composition] Yellow ox brain (sliced)—one piece, White芷, Ligusticum wallichii powder each three qian
[Function and indication] Treat long-standing or recent headaches, both sides.
[Usage and dosage] Eat while hot, drink until intoxicated, lie down after intoxication. Wake up and headache disappears.
[Preparation method] Place together in porcelain vessel, boil with wine until boiling.

Comment: Originally recorded in "Shou Shi Qing Bian" under "Post-illness dietary regulation methods," using ox brain to treat head diseases is a form of organ therapy in traditional Chinese medicine. Combined with white芷 and ligusticum to expel wind, activate blood, and relieve headache, and wine promotes yang, making this a balanced formula addressing both pathogen removal and strengthening the body.
独活风眩酒
[Drug composition] Angelica pubescens six zhi, Citrus aurantium three taels, one version uses pine seeds, gypsum, dodder each four taels
[Function and indication] Treat wind-induced vertigo with instability.
[Usage and dosage] Consume entire dose at once. Use herb residue to warm and press on head while sleeping to induce sweat. If feel cold, reheat in pan and apply again.
[Preparation method] Cut four herbs finely, decoct with eight sheng of clear wine until four sheng.

当归酒
[Drug composition] Large angelica two to three taels
[Function and indication] Harmonize blood, strengthen tendons and bones, relieve various pains, regulate menstruation. Treat blood deficiency headache with splitting pain, menstrual irregularity.
[Usage and dosage] One dose daily, divided into three to five servings.
[Preparation method] Decoct with good wine. Slice angelica thinly, soak in wine for three days, or decoct with good wine.

[Appendix] "Annotation of Famous Doctors' Prescriptions Throughout History": Angelica has effects of activating blood, removing stasis, nourishing blood, and generating blood. For blood deficiency headache, preparing it as wine allows full expression of its pharmacological action, while wine enhances circulation and expands capillaries. Though only one herb, the effect is reliable. Combining with ligusticum and white芷 enhances efficacy.
复方蔓荆子酒
[Drug composition] Fructus viticis 120g, Chrysanthemum 60g, Ligusticum 40g, Saposhnikovia 60g, Mentha 60g
[Function and indication] Wind-heat headache, dizziness, hemiplegic headache.
[Usage and dosage] Three times daily, each time drink 15ml, gradually increase to 20ml.
[Preparation method] Crush five herbs together, soak in yellow wine in clean bottle, after seven days open, remove residue for use.

大豆蚕沙酒
[Drug composition] Soybean 150g, Poria 126g, Silkworm feces 126g
[Function and indication] Headache, fever, muscle heaviness, body itching, back stiffness, jaw tightness, and postpartum rheumatism in women.
[Usage and dosage] Five to seven times daily, each time warm drink one or two small cups, slight sweating is optimal.
[Preparation method] Crush the last ingredient finely, place in clean bottle, soak in 1.5L yellow wine, separately stir-fry soybeans until they crackle, quickly pour into wine, seal, after seven days open, remove residue for use.

雄黄葱芷酒
[Drug composition] Realgar one qian, white fragrant ginger three qian, green onion three stems
[Function and indication] Headache.
[Usage and dosage] Chew green onion first, then take medicine, then eat three green onions, then drink the wine decoction. Severe cases no more than three doses. After taking, cover head and face with blanket, sweating indicates recovery.
[Preparation method] Grind realgar and white fragrant ginger into fine powder. Use one cup of good wine and three green onions, mix the herbs into the wine, stir evenly with green onions.

Comment: Realgar contains arsenic trioxide. Improper use may cause vomiting and diarrhea. Severe cases may be life-threatening. Choose carefully: bright red-yellow, resembling rooster comb, is purer. White crystalline or red outside, white inside indicate arsenic content—use with extreme caution. Emergency treatment for poisoning: use 10g Stephania root, or 1 part raw licorice, 2 parts mung beans, decoct concentrated juice and drink frequently.
白菊花酒
[Drug composition] White chrysanthemum
[Function and indication] Treat men and women suffering from long-term wind headache, dizziness, dry hair loss, phlegm accumulation in chest. Every wind attack causes dizziness, blurred vision, feeling like falling. Used in folk medicine for hypertension dizziness due to liver heat.
[Usage and dosage] Drink适量 on empty stomach, three times daily, maintain continuous wine aroma.
[Preparation method] Collect soft shoots in late spring/early summer, dry in shade, crush into powder, mix with alcohol-free wine. Alternatively, collect flowers in August, sun-dry, cut three large jin, place in a coarse silk bag, store in three dou of wine, after seven days ready.

[Drug composition] Mulberry root, white bark half liang, dried ginger two taels, cinnamon heart five inches, jujube twenty pieces
[Function and indication] Treat headache after intercourse in women, desire to vomit, heart discomfort.

[Usage and dosage] Start with two he, gradually increase to five he, three times daily.
[Preparation method] Cut twenty-one herbs finely, soak in two dou of wine for twenty-one days.

[Drug composition] Angelica pubescens, Cornus, Radix ophiopogonis (remove heart), Astragalus, Chrysanthemum, Saposhnikovia, Aconite (roasted), Side seed (roasted), Atractylodes, Poria, Eucommia each four taels, Goji berry three taels, Salvia four taels, Fresh ginger six taels, Magnetite ten taels, Polygonatum three taels, Fresh Rehmannia (cut) eight taels
[Function and indication] Dizziness, fullness in chest, back pain.
[Usage and dosage] Warmly drink, each time one bowl, two to three times daily.
[Preparation method] Cut eighteen herbs, place in silk bag, soak for seven days.
[Notes] Avoid pork, fish, stale food.

[Appendix] Cang Er wine: Use one hu of Cang Er seeds, three hu of water, boil down to four dou, soak two dou of yeast three times, finally add one hu of powder, soak for three days, ferment following normal process. When wine matures, it is complete.
