【Functions and Indications】
Function: Clear heat and detoxify, activate blood circulation and reduce swelling, relieve pain. Indicated for pelvic connective tissue inflammation, uterine myositis, endometritis, salpingo-oophoritis, etc.
【Prescription Composition】
Scutellaria baicalensis 15g, Phellodendron bark 15g, Coptis chinensis 15g, Polygonum cuspidatum 30g; decoct to make 100ml of liquid, administer retention enema at 38°C, once daily, 10 sessions constitute one course.

Add Salvia miltiorrhiza 10g if there is a mass.

【Comment】
In this formula, Scutellaria baicalensis, Phellodendron bark, and Coptis chinensis all clear heat and dry dampness, purge fire and detoxify. Scutellaria clears lung fire, resolves exterior heat, and clears upper-jiao heat; Coptis purges stomach fire and clears middle-jiao heat; Phellodendron eliminates lower-jiao heat; together they clear heat from all three jiao. Polygonum cuspidatum clears heat and detoxifies, activates blood circulation and unblocks channels, relieving pain. All four herbs have antibacterial effects against Staphylococcus aureus, hemolytic streptococcus, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, etc., thus proving effective in treating pelvic connective tissue inflammation and related conditions.
