[Reseta 18] Persimmon cake 50 grams, black fungus 60 grams, sugar, water starch as needed. Remove stem from persimmon cake, cut into small cubes, soak black fungus and tear into small pieces. Put the persimmon cubes and shredded black fungus in a pot, add enough water, boil for a while, thicken with water starch, add sugar, stir well, boil again, then serve in a bowl. The persimmon cake is made from processed persimmons. It has a sweet and astringent taste, cold in nature, with functions of astringing the intestines, moistening the lungs, stopping bleeding, and harmonizing the stomach. As recorded in "Bencao Gangmu": "has the function of strengthening the spleen and astringing the intestines, treating bleeding and stopping blood loss." According to "Bencao Tongxuan": "stops gastric heat, dry mouth, moistens the heart and lungs, eliminates phlegm, treats hematuria and bloody stools." Combined with black fungus which promotes blood circulation, stops bleeding, and strengthens the body, commonly used for treating hematemesis, hemoptysis, hematuria, enteritis, dysentery, and hemorrhoids.
[Reseta 19] Eel 500 grams, yellow wine, scallions, ginger, salt, vegetable oil as needed. Remove bones and internal organs from eel, wash clean, cut into inch-long pieces. Add vegetable oil to wok, heat until 70% hot, add eel, scallions, ginger, stir-fry, add water, yellow wine, salt, simmer over low heat until fully cooked. Serve as meal accompaniment. This dish has benefits of replenishing deficiencies and stopping bloody stools. Suitable for weakness due to illness, postpartum weakness, hemorrhoidal bleeding, and bloody diarrhea. This recipe is from "Bimin Shiliao", originally named for "internal hemorrhoidal bleeding", a formula to replenish deficiencies and stop bloody stools. For those who have been ill for a long time, with qi and blood deficiency, organ damage, leading to weakness, treatment should focus on tonifying. Damage to the intestinal network causes blood to escape, requiring treatment to stop bleeding. This formula emphasizes eel alone, which both replenishes deficiencies and stops bleeding, thus suitable for weakness and bloody stools. When cooking eel, black pepper is often used. However, since this formula is for stopping bleeding, black pepper should not be used.
