Yueju Wan 【Source】Dan Xi Xin Fa, Vol. 3. 【Alternate Name】Xiong Zhu Wan (from Dan Xi Xin Fa, Vol. 3). 【Composition】Cang Zhu, Xiang Fu, Fu Xiong, Shen Qu, Zhi Zi, each in equal parts 【Usage】Grind herbs into powder, make pills using water as binder, size of green bean. Take 6–9g per dose, swallow with warm water. Also commonly used as decoction, boiled and taken orally. 【Function】Moves Qi and resolves stagnation. 【Indication】Stagnation due to Qi, blood, phlegm, fire, dampness, food; chest and epigastric fullness, abdominal distension and pain, acid regurgitation, vomiting, poor digestion. 【Discussion】Xiang Fu moves Qi and resolves stagnation, treating Qi stagnation; Chuan Xiong activates blood and moves Qi, treating blood stagnation; Cang Zhu dries dampness and strengthens the spleen, treating dampness stagnation; Zhi Zi clears heat and relieves irritability, treating fire stagnation; Shen Qu aids digestion and harmonizes the center, treating food stagnation. Although there is no herb specifically targeting phlegm stagnation, phlegm stagnation often arises from spleen dampness and is related to Qi, fire, and food stagnation. Thus, no additional phlegm-draining herbs are needed—this reflects the principle of treating root causes. |
