Warm Jing Decoction 1 【Source】Jin Kui Yao Lue. 【Alternate Names】Qian Jin Tiao Jing San (from Wan Bing Hui Chun, Vol. 6). 【Composition】Wu Zhu Yu 9g, Dang Gui 9g, Shao Yao 6g, Chuan Xiong 6g, Ren Shen 6g, Gui Zhi 6g, E Jiao 9g, Dan Pi (without heart) 6g, Sheng Jiang 6g, Gan Cao 6g, Ban Xia 6g, Mai Men Dong (without heart) 9g 【Usage】Mix the twelve ingredients with 1 liter of water, boil down to 300 ml, filter out residue, and take in two warm doses. 【Function】Warm meridians, dispel cold, nourish blood, remove stasis. 【Indications】Deficiency-cold in Chong and Ren channels, blood stasis obstruction, irregular menstruation, either early or late, prolonged bleeding, or menstruation occurring twice a month, or amenorrhea; afternoon fever, heat in palms, dry lips and mouth; or cold pain in lower abdomen, long-term infertility. 【Discussion】In this formula, Wu Zhu Yu and Gui Zhi warm the meridians and dispel cold, promoting circulation of blood vessels—this is the sovereign herb. Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Shao Yao, and Dan Pi nourish blood and remove stasis—these are minister herbs. E Jiao and Mai Men Dong nourish yin and moisten dryness; Ren Shen and Gan Cao tonify qi and strengthen spleen; Ban Xia and Sheng Jiang descend counterflow and warm the center—these are auxiliary herbs. Gan Cao harmonizes all herbs—this is the messenger herb. Together, these herbs achieve the effect of warming the meridians, dispelling cold, nourishing blood, and removing stasis. |
