Black Ginseng Decoction
【Source】"Yin Hai Jing Wei" Vol. 1.
【Composition】Black Ginseng, Scutellaria root, Fresh Rehmannia root, Red Peony root, Chrysanthemum flower, Celosia seed, Prickly Ash seed
【Usage】Grind into powder. Take 12 grams each time, decoct in water and drink.
【Function】Clear liver fire, nourish yin, dispel wind, improve vision.
【Indications】Liver wind-heat rising, causing black spots in eyes resembling flies. Now used for vitreous opacities due to liver wind-heat.
【Discussion】In this formula, Black Ginseng clears liver heat and nourishes yin, serving as the principal herb; Chrysanthemum and Celosia seed clear liver and dispel wind, while Prickly Ash seed regulates liver qi—both are essential for treating eye conditions and improving vision, acting as secondary herbs; Scutellaria root, Red Peony root, and Fresh Rehmannia root clear liver heat and cool blood, with Rehmannia enhancing Black Ginseng’s yin-nourishing effect—these serve as adjuvant herbs. Together, they achieve the effect of clearing liver fire, nourishing yin, and improving vision. |
