Acupuncture Successfully Treats Peripheral Neuropathy

I originally suffered from chronic gastritis that persisted for years without recovery. In 2000, I obtained a proven formula using a triple therapy: metronidazole, tetracycline, and Weidele. After two months, my gastric condition was basically cured. However, my feet began to feel numb and painful, worsening over time until the pain became unbearable at night. It turned out that excessive intake of metronidazole caused drug poisoning, leading to toxic peripheral neuropathy. One problem after another, I visited several hospitals in county and city levels, saw numerous doctors, took countless Chinese and Western medicines, and received continuous injections of vitamin B1, vitamin B2, and nerve-nourishing fluids—but with little effect. Having consumed over a hundred herbal prescriptions, excessive astragalus accumulated in my body, causing eye congestion.
One day, I found an old yellow book titled "Lectures on Acupuncture from the Shanghai Medical Science Press, 1964" at a second-hand book stall. I regarded it as a treasure and bought it. After studying it carefully, I found that toxic peripheral neuropathy resembled the "wěi zhèng" described in the book. According to the text, acupuncture at the Liangqiu, Zusanli, and Jie Xi points on the lower limbs could help. Initially, I rode a vehicle daily to the county hospital to receive acupuncture treatment from a doctor. But after some time, I found it inconvenient due to long travel distances. The book also mentioned that this condition requires a prolonged course of treatment and patience. So I decided to buy needles and sterilized cotton balls myself and, under guidance from a local practitioner, learned to needle the correct points. Every day, I stacked my bedding on the bed, sat on the pile, bent my legs at right angles, placed both feet flat on the bed, and performed self-acupuncture. While watching TV, I intermittently twisted the needles, seeking strong sensations. At first, I spent half an hour daily, later increasing to one hour, and eventually exceeding two hours before any improvement occurred. I felt increasingly comfortable with each session—palms and soles started sweating—and the pain gradually subsided. After more than a month of consistent acupuncture, a miracle happened: the peripheral neuropathy that had plagued my feet for so long vanished completely.
Acupuncture can treat peripheral neuropathy. I shared this experience with a friend suffering from the same condition in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. He tried it and confirmed it worked well.
