[Drug composition] Fresh mulberry 100g, white wine 500ml
[Function and indications] Solidifies kidney yin, promotes urination and reduces swelling; treats edema due to internal heat, lower limb swelling, poor urination, joint pain, tinnitus, dizziness, thirst, gray hair, etc.
[Dosage and administration] Drink as desired, one small cup each time.
[Preparation method] Wash fresh mulberries, mash into juice, place in a gauze bag, tie tightly. Put white wine and gauze bag into a wine bottle, close tightly, seal, soak for three days.

[Preparation method] Boil peach bark with three dou of water until reduced to one dou, use five sheng of juice to soak five sheng of wheat yeast, ferment as wine, strain while hot.
[Precautions] Avoid raw, cold, and toxic foods.

[Dosage and administration] Warmly drink, divide into eight to nine doses, use passage of gas as indicator.
[Preparation method] Grind herbs into powder, mix with wine, stuff into duck, sew shut with thread, place in porcelain jar, soak in three to four dou of aged ash-free wine, seal, place in pot with water, steam for four incense sticks, remove residue.

White Quartz Wine
[Drug composition] White quartz
[Function and indications] Treats hard abdomen, distension, known as "stone water."
[Dosage and administration] Three times daily, one medium bowl, warm drink. If not drinking, observe lower abdominal edema, hard as stone, side distension pain, deep pulse, no shortness of breath, often due to cold in liver-kidney, water stagnation in lower jiao. Two fingers single distension: "In the 'Law of Distension Disease' from Medical Gate Law: Any mass, lump, or tumor is the root of distension disease. Accumulating over time, abdomen expands like a basket or barrel. This is single distension... What Zhang Zhongjing referred to as 'stone water' precisely means this." Avoid excessive consumption.
[Preparation method] Use ten liang of pure white quartz, crush into size of soybean, place in a porcelain bottle, soak in two dou of good wine, seal bottle opening with clay, burn with horse manure and bran until wine simmers slightly (about six hours), then extinguish fire.
[Precautions] "Ben Cao Qiu Zhen": Avoid mustard greens, turnips, wormwood, kale, shepherd's purse. "De Pei Zhi Cao": Long-term or excessive use leads to sinking of vital energy.

Zao Jia Wine
[Drug composition] Zao Jia
[Function and indications] Treats edema entering the abdomen with severe fullness, affecting eating, coughing with blood, bloody stools, chest and ribs fullness, excessive saliva, shortness of breath, parasitic toxins.
[Dosage and administration] Empty stomach, one sheng each time, three times daily.
[Preparation method] Remove fibers and skin from zao jia, char until yellow, crush into three sheng, soak in one dou of wine in a stone vessel, boil until boiled, remove residue and take wine.

Notes: The expectorant effect of zao jia has been clinically confirmed (weaker than platycodon and peucedanum, shorter duration). But its treatment of edema is rarely discussed in history; this formula deserves further study.
