Purple Snow Powder

【Composition】Rhinoceros horn (shredded) 30 g, Antelope horn (shredded) 30 g, Gypsum 30 g, Cold Water Stone 30 g, Cimicifuga 30 g, Scrophularia 60 g, Licorice (raw) 24 g, Sandalwood (crushed) 15 g, Costus root (crushed) 15 g
【Usage】Boil the above herbs with 1 liter of water until reduced to 200 ml. Filter through silk cloth, reboil the decoction, then add 108 g of purified mirabilite, simmer gently until the liquid is nearly evaporated and begins to solidify. Pour into a bowl, then add 9 g each of cinnabar and borneol, and 100 sheets of gold leaf—each pre-ground finely and mixed evenly. Place the bowl in a basin of cold water and let cool until it solidifies like snow. Adults take 3 g per dose, children 0.6 g, 10-year-olds 1.5 g, slowly swallow. Alternatively, dissolve in decoction made from light bamboo leaves or wheat straw. For sore throat, apply directly to affected area.
【Function】Cools heart and spleen heat, detoxifies.
【Indications】Severe palatal sores due to heart-spleen heat: ulcers on the palate resembling plums, no chills or fever externally but internal irritability; tongue carbuncle due to heart-spleen fire toxin: purple blisters on the tongue resembling beans, hard, accompanied by chills and fever, severe pain radiating to the heart, sore throat. |
