Yuebi Tang 1 【Source】Jin Kui Yao Lue, Vol. 2. 【Composition】Ma Huang 12g, Shi Gao 25g, Sheng Jiang 9g, Gan Cao 6g, Da Zao 15 pieces 【Usage】Mix the herbs, add 1.2 liters of water, first boil Ma Huang, remove foam, then add remaining herbs, simmer to 600ml, divide into three doses and take warm. 【Function】Promotes lung function, clears heat, disperses water, reduces swelling. 【Indication】Fengshui (wind-water edema) with aversion to wind, generalized swelling, spontaneous sweating without thirst, no severe fever, floating pulse. Now used for acute and chronic nephritis presenting with these symptoms. 【Discussion】Ma Huang and Sheng Jiang promote lung Qi and disperse water dampness; Shi Gao clears heat from the lungs; Gan Cao and Da Zao harmonize the middle and nourish the spleen. Together, they achieve the effect of promoting lung function, clearing heat, dispersing water, and reducing swelling. |
