You Gui Yin 【Source】Volume 51 of "Jing Yue Quan Shu." 【Composition】6–9 g of prepared Rehmannia (up to 30–60 g), 6 g of Chinese yam (stir-fried), 3 g of Cornus officinalis, 6 g of Lycium barbarum, 3–6 g (roasted) of licorice root, 6 g of Eucommia ulmoides (ginger-prepared), 3–6 g of cinnamon bark, 3–9 g of processed Aconite root 【Usage】Use 400 ml of water, boil down to 250 ml, and take while fasting, warm. 【Function】Warmly tonify kidney yang. 【Indications】Kidney yang deficiency, yang decline with yin excess, soreness and pain in waist and knees, fatigue, cold aversion, cold limbs, cough and wheezing, diarrhea, weak pulse; also used for postpartum fever due to deficient fire not returning to its source. 【Additions/Modifications】For qi deficiency with blood collapse, fainting, dizziness, sweating, delirium, or shortness of breath, greatly increase ginseng and Atractylodes; for weak fire failing to generate earth causing vomiting and acid reflux, add roasted dried ginger; for yang deficiency with cold in the middle burner causing diarrhea and abdominal pain, add ginseng and nutmeg; for frequent lower abdominal pain, add Evodia rutaecarpa; for continuous urinary discharge or leukorrhea, add Psoralea corylifolia; for blood deficiency and stagnation with soreness and weakness in waist and knees, add Angelica sinensis. |
