Wan Jin Gao 1 【Source】Formulas Prepared by the Imperial Pharmacy for the People’s Welfare, Volume 8. 【Composition】Long Gu, Bie Jia, Ku Shen, Wuzi Yu Gu, Huang Bo, Cao Wu Tou, Huang Lian, Zhu Ya Zao Jiao, Huang Qin, Bai Lian, Bai Ji, Mu Bie Zi Ren, Dang Gui (washed, dried), Hou Pu (remove coarse skin), Chuan Xiong, Xiang Bai Zhi, Mo Yao (separately ground), Huai Zhi, Liu Zhi (both chopped and ground together) each 7.5g, Ru Xiang (separately ground) 30g, Huang Dan 45g, Qing Ma You 120g (use 250g in winter) 【Usage】Except Huang Dan, put all other herbs into oil and slowly fry until dark red. Remove herbs, add half of Huang Dan into oil, stir continuously until slightly black. Add remaining Huang Dan, stir continuously until deep purple-black. Must be cooked slowly until when dropped into water does not scatter and does not stick to fingers. Then add a little more Huang Dan, boil briefly. If too hard, add a little oil until it no longer sticks to hands.
