Rheumatic Heart Disease 1 This condition results from chronic valvular lesions caused by rheumatic heart disease, leading to valve stenosis or insufficiency, which disrupts normal blood flow, causing enlargement of the ventricles and atria, eventually surpassing the heart’s compensatory capacity, resulting in arrhythmias and heart failure. Clinical symptoms include dyspnea, hemoptysis, palpitations, coughing, and angina pectoris.
