External Treatment for Acute Phase

(1) In early stage, only erythematous rash and vesicular papules present without exudation: Use Dampness-Removing Powder or talcum powder 30g, calamine powder 10g, camphor 2g, mix well and sprinkle frequently throughout the day. If minimal exudation occurs, apply Sanhuang Wash externally, 5–6 times daily.
(2) For extensive erosion, blisters, and oozing: Boil purslane 60g with 2000–3000ml water for 15–20 minutes, cool, then apply as wet compress. Alternatively, boil Huang Bai and raw Chinese blackberry root each 30g with 2000ml water for 15–20 minutes, cool, then apply as wet compress. Also, use decoction of dandelion, gentian, and wild chrysanthemum each 20g, cool, then apply as wet compress.
(3) When erosion, blisters, and crusting occur: Apply Coptis ointment or Qing Dai powder mixed with sesame oil, 3 times daily. Or use Dampness-Removing Powder or San Miao Powder mixed with plant oil or licorice oil, apply evenly, 2–3 times daily.
